•Strong disruptions of night sleep are known to induce hyperalgesic changes.•However, the effects of everyday variations in sleep on pain remain to be studied.•We tested the predictive value of sleep for overnight changes in experimental pain.•Relations between sleep and pain seem to be weak under non-pathological conditions.
