Development and evaluation of rapid screening detection methods for genetically modified crops using loop-mediated isothermal amplification

•LAMP-mediated novel, comprehensive and rapid detection methods for GM maize and soybean events were developed.•The limit of detections for each target sequence were equal or less than 0.5%.•Crude cell lysates were applicable for a direct LAMP detection scheme.•The entire process for the direct LAMP detection was completed within 1 h.
