Patient-reported outcomes in daily clinical practise in HIV outpatient care.

•AmbuFlex is a Web-based tool to collect patient-reported outcomes from home prior to clinic visits.•It provided a method to systematically collect and document a wide range of symptoms.•It identified new symptoms that appeared to have been otherwise overlooked.•A substantial variation in healthcare needs was found for HIV-infected individuals.•The use of patient-reported outcomes has the potential to increase quality of care and facilitate resource optimization.
