Scheduling non-operating room anesthesia cases in endoscopy: Using the sandbox analogy.

•Traditionally, staffing and scheduling for non-operating room anesthesia cases has relied primarily on an open access policy.•Using a multi-disciplinary approach, we created a “sandbox” for three separate gastroenterology groups.•A tactical “sandbox” block allocation can decrease opportunity unused time and increase productivity.•Shared block allocations may increase the value proposition for anesthesiology groups that expand clinical services.
