•Ush1g is upregulated by corticosterone in the tail and other tissues.•Corticosterone induction of ush1g is maximal by 12 h. and maintained for days.•Thyroid hormone has no influence on the expression of ush1g.•The transcribed locus Str. 34945 is a part of the 3′ UTR of Ush1g.
