Racial disparities in temporal lobe epilepsy.

•Previous studies have failed to adequately explore racial differences in epilepsy diagnosis.•Among epilepsy monitoring patients, black patients have nearly twice the prevalence of temporal lobe epilepsy compared to white patients.•All other seizure types were equally distributed by race.•Public policy and resource allocation efforts should consider these racial asymmetries in future planning efforts.
