Utilizing Twitter data for analysis of chemotherapy.

•To our knowledge, this is the first study of chemotherapy discussion on a social media.•We designed and implemented a comprehensive scheme for the perception analysis of chemo-related tweets.•Compared to previous methods, methodology described herein allowed us to collect relatively large number of tweets over a greater time period.•Deep learning classifiers were implemented on the classification tasks of cancer-related twitter users and their performance investigated.•Examining chemotherapy discussions on Twitter provide a new lens into content and behavioral patterns associated with cancer therapy.
