•A new distributed Kalman filtering for information fusion is proposed.•K-means clustering technique is adapted to obtain the trusted nodes.•Information from the trusted nodes are used for fusion.•The proposed approach is robust to the SNR variation among the nodes.•It is robust to malicious cyber-attacks.•Compromised nodes detection and localization are byproducts.
