Simulation-based evacuation planning using state-of-the-art sensitivity analysis techniques.

•A general evacuation process is presented and a suitable simulation-based evaluation framework is developed.•State-of-the-art sensitivity analysis concepts provide ranges of expected results based on all possible outcomes.•The approach is demonstrated in a large, multi-story indoor parking facility in Greece.•The use of quasi-random (instead of pseudo-random) numbers significantly improves convergence rate.•Significant reduction in evacuation time can be obtained (between 35% and more than 40% in this case).
