摘要
In this paper, we propose a new metric, called Maximum Instantaneous Interference (MII) Channel Quality Indicator (CQI), for link adaptation in a bursty interference channel. We use a conventional link adaptation mechanism with slight modifications in the pilots design method in order to determine the MII CQI which accounts for the interference that would be observed if the entire network were actively transmitting. By adapting the radio link spectral efficiency (in bits per second and per hertz) to the MII instead of the actual interference, a very robust and simple link adaptation mechanism can be obtained. We evaluate the performance of the MII and compare it to state-of-the art CQI metrics, in the context of critical communications for fifth generation mobile networks. Simulation results show that this technique enables to reach much higher data rates and robustness than existing link adaptation techniques. We also illustrate on the practical example of fourth generation mobile networks standard, that the required modifications on the standard to support MII CQI are very light.
