Structural correlation between communities and core-periphery structures in social networks: Evidence from Twitter data.

•Communities and core-periphery structures are two common meso‑scale structures.•The two structures can both attribute to asymmetric interactions of actors.•It is proposed that the two structures can be regarded as the same.•Empirical results indicate that a community has a core-periphery structure.
