SHISS: Supervised hashing with informative set selection.

•A novel supervised hashing methods, called “SHISS”, is proposed.•The informative subsets are learned ahead of the less informative ones.•The informativeness is evaluated by “Certainty” and “Diversity”.•The entire objective function can be optimized via ALM.•The proposed SHISS achieves encouraging performance.
