Efficient Logo Insertion Method for High-Resolution H.265/HEVC Compressed Video

H.265/HEVC is being widely used in many video applications for its high compression efficiency. Logo insertion of high-resolution H.265/HEVC compressed video has urgent demands. Inserting a logo into video stream quickly with limited quality loss is a challenging task. We propose a logo insertion method composed of region partition algorithm, information reusing scheme and quantization parameter (QP) adjustment algorithm. Region partition algorithm separates each frame into logo region, logo-affected region and logo-unaffected region to stop pixel error propagation. Information reusing scheme reduces computations and saves re-encoding time. QP adjustment algorithm improves re-encoding video quality. Experimental results show that the proposed logo insertion method reduces the total transcoding time by 97.48% with only 3.53% BD-rate increase on average compared with the cascaded pixel-domain transcoding.
