Image super-resolution for outdoor digital forensics. Usability and legal aspects.

•Digital evidence is frequently rejected in the court of law due to poor image quality.•Commercial video analytic tools frequently produce insufficiently clear enhanced images.•We explore super-resolution imaging to enhance the quality of outdoor video.•A variational Bayesian super-resolution method based on super-Gaussians is proposed.•Experimental results presented on a real-life case validates the methodology.
