A 2.4-Ghz Vco Using A Symmetric Layout Technique To Minimize Mismatches In Differential Signals

In this study, we propose a symmetric layout technique to minimize the mismatches related to the differential signals of a 2.4-GHz CMOS voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO). The layout of the transistors of the VCO is modified to remove the asymmetrical crossover of metal lines, which generates a mismatch in the differential signal. To verify the feasibility of the proposed layout technique, we designed a 2.4-GHz VCO with a differential structure using 110-nm RFCMOS technology. The VCO using the proposed technology shows phase noise and output power compared to a typical VCO.
