Characterization and in vivo efficacy of a heptapeptide ODT formulation for the treatment of neurogenic bladder dysfunction

Orally disintegrating tablets containing a heptapeptide, [Lys5,MeLeu9,Nle10]-NKA(4–10), prepared by a lyophilization method for the treatment of neurogenic bladder dysfunction. The peptide-loaded tablets disintegrated within 30 s in the presence of 0.5 mL artificial saliva. The sublingual administration of the drug-loaded tablets in the rat produced a dose-related increase in bladder contraction pressure.
