Growth in inhibitory control among low-income, ethnic-minority preschoolers: A group-based modeling approach

•A 3-group solution of inhibitory control was analyzed for relations to cumulative risk and externalizing behavior.•The normative and low-stable groups differed in terms of cumulative risk and externalizing behavior.•Mothers reported more externalizing behaviors for children in the low-stable group while controlling for the effect of cumulative risk.
