Thermal decay analysis of fiber Bragg gratings at different temperature annealing rates using demarcation energy approximation

•Thermal decay of H2 loaded fiber is compared at three temperature ramping rates.•Thermally induced reversible effect is observed in PS 1250/1500 during annealing.•The thermal decay behavior is characterized in the demarcation energy domain.
