Performance evaluation of TCP over software-defined optical burst-switched data centre network

•Losses due to contention lead poor TCP performance in traditional OBS network.•We evaluate the performance of TCP in DCNs featuring OBS using two-way reservation.•The two-way reservation has zero burst loss and is feasible in DCNs.•Results show better performance of TCP as compared to traditional methods of OBS.•They also show comparable TCP performance with electronic packet switched network.
