Two new approaches based on ELECTRE II to solve the multiple criteria decision making problems with hesitant fuzzy linguistic term sets.

•This paper extends the ELECTRE II method to solve the MCDM problems under the uncertain environment in terms of hesitant fuzzy linguistic term set (HFLTS).•This paper proposes two new approaches named the score-deviation based ELECTRE II method and the positive-negative ideal HFLE based ELECTRE II method to solve the MCDM problems with HFLTSs from two perspectives.•A sensitivity analysis is performed to test the robustness of the proposed methods.
