Modeling and design of hybrid distribution network: Operational and technical features

摘要
This paper proposes a new design of Hybrid Distribution Network (HDN), in which the multi-terminal MVDC grid is integrated as an energy-hub to link multiple distribution grids. The proposed MVDC grid uses Modular Multilevel Converters (MMC) with voltage droop control to regulate the DC link voltage and power dispatch. The MVDC grid model is developed using the detailed equivalent modelling technique. In the proposed HDN, the MMC stations act as intelligent devices to provide power supply controllability, AC voltage regulation, and power quality enhancement. Test scenarios are conducted in simulation to illustrate the operation of the HDN, and allow for the assessment of the model, and the performance.
