Long-term outcomes of surgical resection for stage IV non-small-cell lung cancer: A national analysis.

•Very little data exist regarding surgery for stage IV NSCLC patients.•A national analysis was performed on stage IV NSCLC patients undergoing surgery.•In select M1 NSCLC patients, surgery was associated with improved survival.•In these patients, increasing T and N status were associated with worse survival.•Lobectomy (compared to other resection types) was associated with better survival.
