•Synthesized a novel and biologically active silver nanoparticles using exopolysaccharides of Streptomyces violaceus MM72.•S. violaceus MM72 EPS found to consist of major sugar backbones such as α-D-galactopyranose, glucose, galactose and Rhamnose.•Exopolysaccharide mediated SNPs were observed with enhanced antioxidant property.•Promising antibacterial activity observed with the EPS mediated SNPs against clinical isolates.
