High-grade thalamic gliomas: Microsurgical treatment and prognosis analysis.

•We reviewed 49 patients underwent microsurgical resection of high-grade thalamic gliomas.•Surgical resection is effective for thalamic gliomas, and short-term efficacy is favorable.•Extent of resection are independent prognostic factors for OS.•A combination of surgery and adjuvant chemotherapy/radiotherapy can prolong the survival time.
