Simplified adaptor for stereotactic surgery in non-human primates

•A simple adaptor is proposed for stereotactic surgery in non-human primates.•This adaptor can be attached to a conventional animal stereotactic frame.•It allows identification of ear bar zero without imaging and computer processing.•Simulation study shows the submillimeter precision in targeting.•The proposed system will be useful for unexperienced translational researcher.
