Chemotherapy regimens containing taxanes or fluorouracil in nasopharyngeal carcinoma: Which better?

•Three-year DFS was significantly better in the TP group than PF group.•OS, LRRFS or DMFS were not significantly different between TP and PF.•TP led to better DFS in advanced stage NPC, patients aged ≤45, and females.•Chemotherapy regimen was an independent prognostic factor for DFS.•Taxane-based regimens have higher efficacy in locally advanced NPC.
