Elevated blood pressure and household solid fuel use in premenopausal women: Analysis of 12 Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) from 10 countries.

•We obtained data from 12 standard DHS conducted in ten countries.•Data were nationally representative and internationally comparable.•We assessed the link between household cooking fuel and BP in women aged 15-49 years.•Dirty fuel use was linked with raised BP and hypertension, mainly in rural women.•Using cleaner fuels may reduce hypertension related morbidity and mortality in L/MIC.
