Shape from sensors: Curve networks on surfaces from 3D orientations.

•A novel framework for acquisition and reconstruction of 3D curves is presented.•Curves are reconstructed from sensor orientations and distance measurements.•Noise and inconsistency of normals are resolved using orientation filtering.•The framework is evaluated by scanning real-world physical shapes.•Applications of the framework include shape reconstruction and design.
