Design and implementation of FBMC system level simulation

Although Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) technology has been widely used in LTE and other systems, the problem of large band leakage caused by the Doppler effect restricts the further improvement of performance when the user moves at high speed. The Filter bank based multi-carrier (FBMC) technology is one of the effective techniques which could replace OFDM in 5G communication systems. At present, the FBMC technique research has drawn more and more attention. Particularly, researches on system level simulation have not got mature and reliable results, relevant organizations have not release a set of well-established and systematic protocols or standards about FBMC system level simulation. Considering that the 5G is a communication system developed on the basis of 4G and there is a compatibility between physical layers constellation modulation and channel coding technology, we propose a set of reasonable FBMC system level simulation theory based on the OFDM system level simulation, and verify the correctness and effectiveness of it by simulation results. The simulation results show that the performance of FBMC and OFDM are very close in the same system architecture, but the performance of FBMC is better when the BS and UE are equipped with single antenna at the same time.
