摘要
To provide higher bit rate services to users economically, we proposed the Subcarrier Digital Modulation Passive Optical Network (SDM-PON). SDM-PON has biased and clipped signal sending schemes. The biased signal sending scheme creates a completely positive signal by adding a direct current (DC) to the electrical modulated subcarrier, and then converts it into an optical signal. The clipped signal sending scheme cuts the negative components of the electrical modulated subcarrier and converts the remaining signal into an optical signal. Our work to date has focused on using the clipped signal sending scheme for SDM-PON, and few results with the biased signal sending scheme have been presented. This paper shows the feasibility of SDM-PON with the biased signal sending scheme. We show the combination can support up to 32 ONUs for uniform distances of 20 km, and different distances of 2 to 21 km when each ONU constantly sends 1 Gbps using 16QAM, and all 32 ONUs transmit simultaneously.
