Influence of TaGW2-6A on seed development in wheat by negatively regulating gibberellin synthesis.

•TaGW2-6A negatively controls GA synthesis and response genes to influence seed development.•Expression levels of GA 3-ox and GASA4 differed greatly in a TaGW2-6A allelic variant.•Exogenous application of GA changed the phenotype of the TaGW2-6A allelic variant.•The TaGW2-6A allelic variant exhibited enhanced germination.•GA treatment had opposite effects on germination in the variant and Chinese Spring.
