Perioperative stroke as a predictor of mortality and morbidity in patients undergoing CABG.

•Perioperative Stroke (POS) is a potentially devastating complication of CABG.•Our study of 668,627 patients over 13years yielded a POS rate of 1.87%.•Perioperative Stroke is an independent risk factor for mortality and morbidity.•Rates of stroke, mortality are decreasing while the rate of morbidity is increasing.•The use of intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring should be explored.
