•Decrement of the CMAP occurs at low frequencies of stimulation in myasthenic cats.•Electrodiagnostics and muscle biopies may be recommended in feline MG.•Myasthenic cats' clinical presentation mimics late-onset MG in humans.•MG in cats may be associated with polymyositis (PM) with and without thymoma.•Feline MG may be a relevant animal model for the study of thymoma and PM associations.
