Preparation of Mesoporous Magnesium Oxide with Doping Ion by a Sol-gel Method and Its Antibacterial Performance

Mesoporous magnesium oxide with doping ion was prepared by a sol-gel method using magnesium nitrate, EDTA, triethanolamine and citric acid as the raw materials. By XRD, BET, and TEM, the effects of calcination temperature, calcination time and surfactant usage on the morphology and specific surface area of magnesium oxide were explored. Mesoporous magnesium oxide whose specific surface area range from 80 m(2)/g to 181.6 m(2)/g and aperture range from 3.6 similar to 9.8 nm is obtained. The influences of different doping-ion such as Li+, Cu2+, Al3+, and Ti4+ on the specific surface area and antibacterial performance were investigated.
