摘要

•We tested estrogen's effect on protein Z-dependent protease inhibitor (ZPI) levels.•Plasma ZPI levels increased significantly in oophorectomy patients after surgery.•The increased ZPI levels were not related to drastically decreased estrogen levels.•Weak relationships were observed between ZPI and typical acute phase reactants.•Alternative regulatory mechanisms may underlie the plasma PZI concentrations.
