Local reinforcing bar damage in r.c. members due to accelerated corrosion and loading

•Corrosion is the most common problems for reinforced concrete (r.c.) structures.•Tests are performed on r.c. ties subjected to load and accelerated corrosion.•A 3D scanning system is used to obtain a model of the reinforcement reduction.•A distribution of the readings is obtained.•A comparison with other tests present in literature is discussed.
