Carboniferous arc magmatism in the Qiangtang area, northern Tibet: Zircon U–Pb ages, geochemical and Lu–Hf isotopic characteristics, and tectonic implications

•Carboniferous arc magmatic rocks first found in the western region of LSSZ.•These rocks are composed of acidic to basic volcanic arc rocks.•The basic and felsic rocks may derive from distinct source regions.•The Paleo-Tethys subduction along the LSSZ began in the early Carboniferous.
