Catheter-associated urinary tract infection after cardiovascular surgery: Impact of a multifaceted intervention

摘要
•We conducted a prospective, before-and-after intervention study in a cardiac intensive care unit.•We evaluated indwelling urinary catheter (IUC) insertion and maintenance, as well as reasons for IUC use.•We provided training, feedback, and improvements in infrastructure.•The catheter-associated urinary tract infection incidence declined, and the urinary catheter utilization ratio remained constant.•Adherence to hand hygiene and to maintenance care improved significantly.
