Evaluation of machine learning interpolation techniques for prediction of physical properties

•Several machine learning algorithms are used to predict physical properties.•The Gaussian process regression algorithm shows superiority over other algorithms.•A new scalable Gaussian process algorithm is presented.•The speed of calculation is decreased by at least one order of magnitude.
