Using solution X-ray scattering to determine the high-resolution structure and morphology of PEGylated liposomal doxorubicin nanodrugs

•We studied PEGylated nanoliposomes before and after remote loading with doxorubicin.•Solution x-ray scattering data were analyzed using our advanced analysis software.•The high-resolution structures of Doxil®, its generics, and LC100 were determined.•Doxil® and its generics are structurally similar within the experimental error.•No drug-nanocrystals formed when ammonium methanesulfonate was used for remote loading.
