•Little is known about the influence of season of diagnosis on melanoma survival.•Melanoma incidence peaked in June in Belgium over 2004–2009.•Patients diagnosed in June had higher observed, but not relative, survival rates.•Our results do not support an influence of season of diagnosis on melanoma survival.
