Inducing Cationic Sensitivity Of Polypyrrole Films Doped With Metal Complexing Ligands By Chemical And Electrochemical Methods

Different methods of inducing desired cationic sensitivity of poly(pyrrole) (PPy) films doped with Metal Complexing Ligands (MCL) is presented. Selected MCLs have the structure R-(MCG-H-m)(p)(SO3H)(n), and thus contain ,,n" sulfonate groups and ,,p" metal complexing groups (-MCG-H-m) responsible for forming complexes with selected cations. The latter is necessary for inducing preferred sensitivity. In the process of complex formation the protons from MCG groups are substituted by selected metal cations. Three methods of deprotonating, complex fort-ning and inducing cationic sensitivity of PPy films are shown.
