D Bronchovascular Hamartoma: A Rare Cause Of Hemoptysis

Bronchovascular hamartomas are lesions constituted mainly of vascular tissue showing histologic features of hemangiomas. They present as small lesions in patients who usually manifest hemoptysis but experience no obstructive symptoms. We describe the case of a patient who presented with a 4-year history of hemoptysis and an unremarkable chest roentgenogram. Flexible bronchoscopy revealed a plain, vascular lesion. After thoracotomy, histopathologic features of bronchovascular hamartoma were found in a biopsy specimen.
