Real-time small signal stability assessment of the power electronic-based components in contemporary distribution systems

•We proposed a novel technique for small-signal stability assessment of the power electronic-based devices in the distribution systems based on impedance measurement and generalized Nyquist criterion.•The proposed technique is capable of small-signal stability analysis in real-time.•We developed a test bed comprised from a Solid State Transformer (SST) connected to distribution system in RTDS platform.•We developed proposed technique into the real-time platform (RTDS).•We studied and examine stability of SST in the test bed.
