Encapsulation of the Bacillus thuringiensis secretable toxins Vip3Aa and Cry1Ia in Pseudomonas fluorescens

•The encapsulation of Bacillus thuringiensis secretable toxins in Pseudomonas fluorescens was evaluated.•Toxins Vip3Aa and Cry1Ia were expressed in P. fluorescens using pMEKm12.•Vip3Aas expressed in Escherichia coli and P. fluorescens had similar toxicity against Spodoptera frugiperda.•Purified and microencapsulated Cry1Ias expressed in P. fluorescens had comparable toxicity.•For the first time, B. thuringiensis bioinsecticides based on secretable toxins can be developed.
