•The seed and blanket ADS reference configuration without MA enrichment shows a large reactivity swing due to burnup.•The larger amount of MA introducing into the core, the more TRUs are transmuted.•With larger MA content, the smaller reactivity swing in the system can be achieved.•Increasing core size by introducing more thorium and reprocessed fuel assemblies into the system reduces reactivity swing.
