Photocatalytic degradation of butanone (methylethylketone) in a small-size TiO 2 /β-SiC alveolar foam LED reactor

•Reactors were structured with β-SiC foams supporting visible light active TiO2 MPT623 photocatalyst.•Small-size and greener photocatalytic devices for purifying air can be engineered with UV/vis LEDs.•UV/vis LEDs with wavelengths at 392nm were matching with the TiO2 MPT623 absorption range.•A large gain factor in terms of energy effectiveness was obtained.
