Noncoherent Reception of an Intensity-Modulated Optical Signal

n optimal (in a Bayesian formulation) algorithm for the detection of a modulating information signal at the output of a noncoherent photodetector is considered. It is shown that detection of signals is possible with complete statistical a priori information independent of the amplitude of the signals and length of the observation interval.
