Pulse properties in gas–liquid flow through randomly packed beds under microgravity conditions

•New microgravity data is presented for average pulse properties in gas–liquid concurrent flow through a packed bed.•Variation of average pulse velocity and frequency is described over the range of flow conditions covered in the experiments.•Comparison with 1g down flow is used to identify similarities and differences.
