P.20: Transfer Characteristic‐Based Electro‐Optical Technique for Characterization of Carrier Lifetimes with Associated Physical Mechanisms in Polymer‐based Organic Thin‐Film Transistors

We report an electro-optical I-V-based technique for the excess carrier lifetimes, which are composed of 3 governing components in p-channel PTFTs. By monitoring the time-evolution of the threshold voltage after optical illumination with above-bandgap photons (h=Eph>Eg), lifetimes are separated for those 3 dominant components in PTFTs. Lifetimes are extracted to be τSRHm=1.27[s], τBtB=731[s], and τOxide=67,080[s] for 3 dominant mechanisms by the time-dependent electro-optical response of PTFTs. We expect that the results are useful for a convenient extraction of lifetimes, implementation of models and parameters into TCAD tools for a systematic evaluation and design of PTFTs.
